Dear Stonewall Parents, Faculty and Staff,
It has been an honor serving as your PTA President for the past two years. We have accomplished a lot in a short period of time thanks to the countless hours of the entire PTA Board and all the parent volunteers.
During the past two years, we raised our Student Allotment Program from $8 to $13.25 per child, taking the burden off families of having to pay for things like field trips and classroom supplies. We raised over $35,000, this year alone, to build a new playground for our children. We reinstated our teacher reimbursement program that gives each teacher $25 to spend in their classroom. We’ve had award-winning programs such as Love for Arts Night and Science Night. And these are just a few of the many accomplishments.
So I want to say “thank you” to everyone who has helped make Stonewall the excellent school that it is. None of these things could have been accomplished without you. Your love and dedication is cherished and doesn’t go unnoticed. You are the backbone of our school.
But the works doesn’t stop here. I know the incoming PTA Board is already working hard on plans to make Stonewall even better. I am excited to see what the new school year will bring.
Have a great summer!
Now that renovations are complete at Stonewall, we are looking to bring back after-school clubs/programs. If you are interested in serving on a committee to help with this, please email Jennie Hayes at email@example.com.
The Stonewall PTA needs your help!
Please consider joining the Stonewall PTA Board where you can make a huge difference in the activities and lives of our Stonewall students. By volunteering, you will be showing your child how much your value their education. The Nominating Committee is taking nominations for the 2015-2016 school year, and we are counting on you to step up and volunteer. Elections for the PTA Board and for SBDM Representatives will take place on Monday April 20th. The following are open positions for the 2015-2016 school year:
- Vice President for Membership
- Vice President for Fundraising
- Vice President for Programs and School Events
- Parent Representatives for School Based Decision Making (SBDM) (2)
We are also seeking a Treasurer-Elect for 2015-2016. This is not technically a board position, but this person would shadow the current treasurer in preparation for becoming Treasurer for the 2016-2017 school year.
In order to run for any of these positions, please send written confirmation of your interest in running as well as a single page bio with your background and relevant experience to Julie Beck at firstname.lastname@example.org or leave it in the PTA mailbox in the office. Nominations are due by Friday, March 13th and will be presented to the PTA board at the March 16th PTA meeting. Please feel free to contact Julie with any questions.
Who May Run in the This Election?
For the PTA Board positions, you must be a current PTA member and have a continuing Stonewall student for next year. For the SBDM Council, you must be a parent, step-parent, foster parent, or other legal guardian of a student who will be enrolled at Stonewall during the 2015-2016 academic year.
Reminder: Class pictures are on Monday!
Playground update: They finished the primary playground yesterday. All of the parts for the intermediate playground just came in so they will be starting on it soon.
For everyone who has expressed interest in Chess Club, while we have not found people to lead a club at Stonewall, we found a group called “Chess Mates” operated by the Eagle Creek branch of the Public library. It meets every other Saturday as a drop-in club with lessons, snacks, and pick-up games for ages 8 and up. The time alternates, so the upcoming meetings are Feb 7th 2-4 pm, Feb 21st 10 -12, March 7th 2-4 pm, and March 21st 10-12. Please share with your friends!
Membership in the Stonewall PTA is the first step towards becoming a stronger, more involved advocate for your child. Membership is EASY!
Just fill out the Membership Form, attached the $5 per member annual dues, and retune the form and payment to your child’s classroom or the school office. Mark envelopes to the attention of PTA Membership.
You will receive your membership card as soon as your information is processed.
